Leather Log Basket in Charcoal Black

Leather Log Basket in Charcoal Black

Black leather log basket by OTZI. This generously proportioned leather storage basket was inspired by the traditional harvest basket and is made with a strong consideration of form and material at heart.

Individually crafted over the span of many days, each piece is formed using sustainably sourced leather tanned over the course of 12-14 months in England's only remaining traditional oak bark tannery. Run by the same family for 6 generations at its Devonshire site, the building has been used as a tannery since the Roman times and runs using power generated by the River Coly.

Each bin has been oiled and waxed to restore moisture and luster following tanning, which can be seen in the subtle white patination. These marks are indications of a well crafted piece of leather and, while celebrated by some, can also be burnished to a shine to reduce their appearance.

Features waxed linen thread stitching and a responsibly sourced solid American ash timber base.

Medium: 16" D x 20" H
Large: 20" D x 24" H

Care Instructions: Due to the large panel size, the natural grain and color variations are fully displayed in the oak-dyed leather and may evolve with age. Use a neutral conditioner, cream or balm, to clean occasionally. To avoid discoloration or fading, avoid direct sunlight and keep 4-5 feet from fireplaces.

Handmade in England.
